Tofu Masaledar is a side dish prepared using tofu that is cooked in pureed vegetable gravy making it healthy and tasty.
Ingredients:
Firm Tofu – 500 gms
Onions – 2
Tomatoes – 2
Bay Leaf – 1
Cumin Seeds – 1 tsp
Turmeric Powder – 1/2 tsp
Red Chilli Powder – 1 tsp
Garam Masala Powder – 2 tsps
Kasoori Methi – 1 1/2 tbsps
Ginger Garlic Paste – 1 1/2 tsps
Fresh Cream – 2 tbsps
Vegetable Oil – 2 tbsps
Salt to taste
For Gravy:
Beetroot, grated – 1/2 cup
Carrot, grated – 1/2 cup
Cabbage, shredded – 1/2 cup
For Garnishing:
Coriander Leaves
Method:
- Chop onions and tomatoes.
- Cut tofu into small triangles.
- Heat oil in a pan.
- Add bay leaf and cumin seeds.
- When cumin seeds start crackling, add chopped onions and ginger-garlic paste. Saute until onion turns translucent.
- Add chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, garam masala powder and salt. Saute well.
- Meanwhile, blend together beetroot, carrot and cabbage into a smooth puree. Keep aside.
- When tomatoes turn soft and mushy, add blended vegetable puree. Cook until it thickens.
- Add tofu and continue to cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Now add fresh cream, cook for a minute.
- Sprinkle kasoori methi. Mix well.
- Garnish with coriander leaves.
