Chakkuli also known as Murukku is a deep fried snack from South India, This recipe is prepared using black gram flour, rice flour and butter.
Ingredients:
Rice Flour –Â 2 cups
Black Gram Powder – 1/2 cup
Butter – 1 large lemon sized
Sesame Seeds –Â 1tbsp
Salt to taste
Oil for deep frying
Method:
- Mix rice flour, black gram powder, butter, sesame seeds and salt in a large mixing bowl.
- Knead it into a smooth dough using enough water. The dough should be like that of a chapati dough.
- Heat oil.
- Place some dough in the chakkuli mould and press the mould onto a plastic sheet to make chakkulis.
- Carefully remove each chakkuli from the sheet and deep fry in oil.
- Once cooled, store it in air tight container.
