This Orange Phirni is a must try dessert. Fresh Orange just boosts the flavor and tastes delicious.
Ingredients:
Milk -1 litre (boiled and cooled to room temperature)
Oranges – 2
Orange Juice – 200ml
Sugar –Â 3/4 cup (1 cup = 200 ml measure)
Rice -1/2 cup
Cardamom Powder – 1 tsp
Orange Essence – 1 tsp (optional)
Almond Flakes – 1/4 cup
Method:
- Wash and soak rice in water for 1 hour.
- Drain all the water and blend it into a coarse powder.
- Peel the oranges and separate the segments.
- Discard the transparent skin and seeds from each segment, cut them into small pieces. Keep aside.
- Take milk in a deep pan, add coarsely powdered rice. Mix well.
- Cook this on medium heat stirring continuously till the milk start boiling.
- When the milk boils, cook in simmer for a few minutes until the rice gets cooked.
- Now add sugar and cardamom powder, mix well and cook until it thickens.
- Add orange essence. Mix well.
- Turn off the heat.
- Add orange juice and the cut segments. Mix well.
- Add almond flakes, mix well.
- Serve chilled.
