Cabbage Vada is deep fried patty prepared from chopped cabbage with chickpea flour and spices. These vadas are crispy outside and soft inside making it a perfect appetizer or a tea time snack.
Ingredients:
Cabbage, chopped – 2 cups
Onion, chopped – 1/2 cup
Green Chillies – 4
Curry Leaves – 10
Coriander Leaves – 4 strands
Gram Flour (Besan) – 1 cup
Rice Flour – 1 tbsp
Red Chilli Powder – 1 tsp (adjust depending on taste)
Salt to taste
Oil for deep frying
Method:
- Blend green chillies, curry leaves and coriander leaves into a coarse paste without adding water.
- In a large mixing bowl, take chopped cabbage, onion, blended chilli paste, red chilli powder and salt.
- Mix well and keep it aside for 15mins.
- Now add rice flour and gram flour and mix thoroughly with 2-3tbps of water.
- Heat oil in a wok.
- Take a ping-pong ball sized portion of the dough and press it slightly in between your palm.
- Slowly drop it in the oil and fry until it turns golden brown.
- Now turn it upside down and fry until this side turns golden brown.
- Serve it hot with tomato sauce.
